INTRODUCTION

The vision for the Girls’ Cadet College Mardan (GCCM) took shape in 2016, spearheaded by Mr. Muhammad Atif Khan, the Minister of Education at the time. Recognizing the need to create a platform that would offer young women the same educational and leadership opportunities as their male counterparts, Mr. Khan proposed the establishment of the college. The idea quickly gamered the support of Mr. Pervez Khattak, the Honourable Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who saw in it a significant step toward gender equality in education and leadership training. The college was envisioned with a clear mission: to provide girls with an environment where they could develop into well-rounded, responsible citizens equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to serve their country. This initiative was not just about academic excellence; it was about fostering leadership qualities, discipline, and a sense of duty in young women, preparing them to take on key roles in society. The decision to locate the college at Takht-i-Bahi was deliberate and symbolic. Takht-i-Bahi, with its deep historical and cultural significance, offered more than just a physical location-it provided a connection to a rich heritage of learning and wisdom. The site was chosen to inspire the students, linking their modern education with the ancient traditions of knowledge and discipline that have long been associated with the area. Before the permanent campus could be established, the college began its journey on 22nd May 2017 at a temporary site within the Government Commerce College for Women in Mardan. This interim location allowed the institution to start its educational programs while construction of the permanent campus at Takht-i-Bahi was underway. The temporary campus served as a foundational phase, setting the stage for what would become a pioneering institution in the region. The college is poised to become a feeder institution, not only for the Armed Forces and Civil Services but also for various leadership roles in different sectors of society. By the time the construction of the permanent campus is complete, the Girls’ Cadet College Mardan will stand as a testament to the commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to advancing educational opportunities for girls, thereby contributing to the nation’s progress through the empowerment of its female youth.
